Maròtta, Gino. - Italian painter and sculptor (Campobasso 1935 - Rome 2012). Initially influenced by C. Cagli and G. Novelli, he then turned to an experimentalism which, while remaining figurative, accentuates the artificial aspect against the naturalistic one (typical example are his "trees", two-dimensional structures of aluminum and Plexiglas, but also in stone and bronze). Designer of furnishing objects, he made himself known for the precious encaustics, bandons and leads made with blowtorches. Considered one of the most innovative Italian sculptors, he has participated in important international exhibitions.
