Charming and ancient oil painting on wood, attributed to the school of the Neapolitan painter Michele Pagano,
datable to the first half of the 1700s, 18th century,
presents a red ground of preparation, which transpires from the painting in which the warm orange tones of the ruins prevail,
in the composition we can see figures of villagers and passers-by between the ancient buildings and merchants, engaged in discussion near the quay where a galleon is moored.
The painting is kept in excellent condition, inside a coeval gouache gilded wooden frame, which has some conservative defects (small defects in the gilding and cracks) as shown in the photographs.
Frame dimensions: 37.5 x 26.5 cm;
Painting dimensions: 30 x 22 cm.
