Coin holders with scenes painted on glass, attributed to a follower of Simon Vouet - First half of the 18th century.

€ 6.000.00 € 12.000,00

Extraordinary coin holder veneered in ebony with paintings attributed to an Italian follower of Simon Vouet (Paris, 9 January 1590 – Paris, 30 June 1649).

It has 6 small drawers, each of which portrays on the front a scene painted on glass taken from the Bible: it shows Saint Agatha, the creator who separates light from darkness, the miracle of the wedding at Cana, Susanna and the elders, the baptism of Christ, Noah's sacrifice.

The images were depicted with incredible attention to detail, with very refined painting and brilliant colors. Some scenes are surrounded by a golden decorative motif that encloses them inside.

The drawers feature guilloché workmanship, a characteristic ornamental workmanship with wavy lines.

Resting on a cabinet with 6 legs with twisted columns, not contemporary with the coin holder.

In excellent conservative conditions. There are some defects in the wood as shown in the photographs.

DIMENSIONS: width 125 cm, depth 44 cm, height 125 cm.

SHIPPING INCLUDED: excluding remote areas as per the national courier list.
